Explorers

“Explorers Out and About” is a self-contained group within the MCG which has ‘adventures’ in all corners of KL and the surrounding area.

Organised by members for members, the monthly excursions are usually to destinations off the main (tourist) track, destinations with an interesting cultural perspective wherever possible.  This could be anywhere – the location and theme is up to you. It’s a challenge, but enormously satisfying for all participants.

Our trips have included the following:

  • an orchid nursery specialising in tissue culturing
  • the Thean Hou temple at Chinese New Year to celebrate the festival and experience seasonal customs
  • a behind the scenes visit to KLPAC, learning about the history of the area as well as joining a traditional dance workshop
  • the Malaysian Anti Corruption Agency
  • a visit to Chinese burial grounds in Seminyih, where we were introduced to the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy

Explorers Out and About,  is undoubtedly fun. As a member we ask you for your spirit of adventure, an inquisitive mind…. and commitment;

  • commitment to attend all Explorers’ excursions throughout the year, unless you are travelling
  • commitment to deliver an interesting, well researched excursion as a ‘present’ to your fellow Explorers

At any time we have about 50 members in the group.

To become a member of Explorer’s Out & About you must be a member of the Malaysian Cultural Group.

Please contact our membership secretary at [email protected] to arrange this.
